The Restorative Justice Integrity Act

The Restorative Justice Integrity Act (AB 2833) is a new law designed to protect participants in Restorative Justice programs across California. It ensures that what people say during a Restorative Justice process can’t be used against them in other legal proceedings, such as a trial. In simple terms, this law aims to make Restorative Justice programs safer for everyone involved by keeping the conversations private. This privacy encourages people to be more open and honest during the process, which can lead to better outcomes.

Restorative Justice Programs

Restorative Justice Programs (AB60) requires that victims/survivors of harm receive notice of the availability of community-based restorative justice programs and processes in their community, county, county jails, juvenile detention facilities, and prisons.

AB60 gives victims and survivors the statutory right to be notified of the availability of Restorative Justice processes.
